OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL
Pre-school to 12th Grade
ALL CHILDREN ARE WELCOME!!! 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:  The Christian Education Staff at St. Peter's is dedicated, loving, and devoted to teaching each child the love of the Lord.  The children are encouraged to participate in functions of the church in order to build self-strengths and enjoy others.  The children form life-long friendships, not only with other children, but also with the adults of the congregation.  Children join us in worship service beginning at 10:00 a.m., participate in a weekly Children's Parable, then attend Sunday School classes from 10:15 until 11:15.   Classes are broken out as follows:   

ó         LITTLEST ANGELS:  Newborn to three years old.  A caring, safe environment providing stories, song, and playtime while learning about God.

ó         Pre-K/Nursery:  Three to five years old.  Well-loved teaching staff encourages the children with Bible stories, songs, and crafts.

ó         Kindergarten:  Age appropriate Bible stories; theme-oriented crafts and games.

ó         1^st and 2^nd Grades:  A more structured class, emphasizing Biblical background lessons with related crafts.  The children create cards for our sick and shut-ins that we greatly appreciate.  The cards are delivered by Pastor Hope.

ó         3^rd and 4^th Grades:  The church presents a Bible to each child by third grade.  This level teaches the Bible skills necessary to use that gift.  Children are encouraged to ask questions as we begin to explore the Word of God.  Their responsibility is to ring the bells to welcome the congregation to worship each week.

ó         5^th and 6^th Grades:  Using a structured curriculum, the children are encouraged to further explore the Word of God.  Discussion and related crafts and activities are utilized to strengthen their knowledge.  They also serve as Greeters prior to worship.

ó         7^th Grade:  Youth are strengthening their faith and beginning to prepare for Confirmation as members of the church.  Classes cover current topic situations through discussions and learning to apply what they have been taught.  They also serve as Acolytes, lighting the candles during worship.

ó         8^th and 9^th Grades:  Our confirmation class gathers together each week during Sunday School to discuss and reinforce some of the lessons being learned during their sessions with Pastor Hope. 

ó         Senior High:  Teenagers, through discussion, learn how their faith can guide them with life’s decisions.  Guest mentors, each week, bring their experiences to topic discussions to build confidence and inner strength.  They also serve as Lay Liturgists, reading the Scripture during worship.

CONFIRMATION CLASS!!!  All youths in 8^th and 9^th grades are invited to participate, along with older teens and adults who wish to be confirmed.  This is an in-depth, one-year class including Bible study and building of inner strength with God’s guidance that is taught by Pastor Hope.  Each confirmand participates in outside activities with an adult mentor from the congregation and attends a confirmation weekend at Dunkirk U.C.C. Campgrounds.  Confirmation will be held in 2010.
